Young Meilin of ‘Ang Probinsyano’ is now a Math legend at 11 years old

She may have had a brief exposure on the hit series "Ang Probinsyano," but 11-year-old sixth grader Angela Clare Tan has made exceptional contributions outside of the entertainment industry.

Tan, who briefly played young Meilin in 2019, who was played by Janice Hung on the series, became the first winner of the World Mini Math Creative Contest Legend (WMI MMCC).

Tarlac Living Faith Academy elementary student scored the rare success after winning gold in the competition for the third year in a row, beating out other students from different parts of the world.

Tan won the Grand Prix for the first time in 2019 when she filmed a video about real-world characteristics. The following year, she completed a back-to-back championship with a clip looking at how statistics can help leaders make effective decisions.

In her three-peat bid, Tan shot a recent video showing how math can be used to distribute vaccines on the way to receiving the legendary award.

In her acceptance speech video, Tan said that she loves making creative videos because she is learning and appreciating math even more.

The MMCC is an international competition founded in Taiwan and organized by the World Mathematics Invitational Group (WMI).

It is open to 3rd to 12th grade students from different countries such as Australia, Brazil, China, India, Kazakhstan, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Turkey, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Mongolia, and Iran.
